Hero Siege Bard - Playstyle, Damage Types and Who It Suits

Bard is a death-metal themed DLC class that works as both an electric area caster and a close-range physical fighter. What the class does and who it fits.

Bard is one of the newer paid DLC classes, and it is the one the wikis are most likely to be missing — it appears on Steam’s DLC list while several class rosters have not caught up.

What is the Bard’s playstyle?

A hybrid, which is the point of it. Its Steam listing describes a death-metal themed class built around amplified guitar work, and names three groups it suits:

  • Caster players who want plenty of electric area-of-effect damage.
  • Physical fighter players who want to shred at closer range.
  • Anyone who simply likes the sound an electric guitar makes.

That first pair is the useful part: Bard is documented as covering both an electric AoE caster role and a close-range physical one, rather than being one with a token nod to the other.

Is the Bard worth buying?

Two honest caveats before you spend anything.

Its archetypes barely appear on the Season 10 tier list. The only entry clearly attributable to it is Slaying Riffs, which sits at D for both leveling and endgame. That is the bottom half of the list.

The material available on Bard is thin. Unlike Demonspawn or Stormweaver, there is no detailed community build guide with skill point allocations in the sources consulted for this page. Its skill list is not documented on the wikis that cover the older roster.

If you want a class with a well-trodden build path, Bard is not currently it. If you want the theme and are comfortable working a build out yourself, that is a reasonable reason to buy it — just not a performance one.

The source frame below shows the physical Flicker Strike variant during a boss fight. It demonstrates the close-range playstyle, not a current tier placement.

Is the Bard included in any bundle?

Yes. The Hero Siege Complete bundle covers the base game plus the class DLC together, which is cheaper than buying classes individually if you intend to own more than two or three.

The reviewed catalog now provides a Season 10 Bard leveling route, a Flicker Strike Pyro-Tech setup and a historical unarmed Flicker build. Compare their intended roles with the Season 10 tier list and the wider class roster before buying the DLC.

Next step

If you are choosing a first DLC class on performance, compare Bard’s D-tier Slaying Riffs against the S-tier archetypes on the tier list before buying — and note that several strong archetypes run on classes that are now free.
