Hero Siege Family Share - Why It Was Disabled

Steam Family Share is disabled in Hero Siege because it was used to bypass bans. What that means if you played that way, and how to re-link your account.

Steam Family Share does not work with Hero Siege. It was deliberately disabled, and the reason is worth knowing because it explains a class of account problem players still run into.

Why is Family Share disabled?

The developer disabled it directly:

We have disabled the Family Share option, as it was being exploited by cheaters to bypass bans.

The exploit is straightforward: a banned player borrows a clean copy through someone else’s library and carries on. Removing Family Share closes that route, at the cost of the legitimate use case.

I used Family Share before — what now?

You may need to reconnect your account. The announcement is specific:

Players who previously used Family Share may need to re-link their PAS accounts to their personal Steam accounts.

PAS here is Panic Art Studios’ own account system, which is separate from Steam. If your progress was tied to a PAS account reached through a shared library, that link is what needs remaking.

The stated route is to join the official Discord and contact the team through their ticketing system.

Could Family Share have got someone banned?

It appears so. At least one player reports a friend being flagged as cheating and blocked while playing locally through family sharing around the 1.0 release — the exact scenario the feature was later disabled to prevent.

If that describes you, the ticketing route above is the documented path. It is worth knowing that the developer has publicly acknowledged and reversed a separate class of false-positive bans, unbanning everyone affected — so an appeal is not automatically futile.

What if you cannot reach Discord support?

This is a real gap. Players who were banned from the Discord itself have no documented alternative route, since the support channel and the community channel are the same place. No official fallback appears in the sources behind this page.

If that is your situation, Steam’s own discussion forum for the game is where those players have gone, with mixed results.

Do not confuse this policy block with the retryable Steam verification error. If relinking or reinstalling becomes necessary, first follow the save-file backup steps. Problems with a consumed paid token, such as the Blood Pact failure case, also belong in the developer support route rather than ordinary gameplay help.

Next step

If you played through Family Share and have lost access to progress, re-linking your PAS account through Discord support is the documented fix — and buying your own copy is the only way to keep playing regardless.
