Hero Siege Top DPS - What Actually Drives Damage Rankings

Which classes put out the most damage in Hero Siege, why the answer changes between low and high level, and why patch-era DPS rankings go stale fast.

“Which class does the most damage” has no stable answer in Hero Siege, and the reason is worth understanding before you read any DPS ranking — including this page.

Why do DPS rankings disagree with each other?

Two variables move the answer more than class choice does.

Character level. A long-running Steam community balance thread makes the point explicitly: some characters are far stronger at low levels but the order changes at high level. Its author argues high level is what matters, since getting from 1 to 150 takes only a few hours.

The current patch. That same thread was written around a mana system change that, in the author’s words, “changed pretty much everything”. Damage rankings in Hero Siege are downstream of systems changes, not just class tuning.

So a DPS list is a snapshot of one level band under one patch. Two lists can both be right and still disagree.

What did the community high-level ranking look like?

From the Steam balance discussion, as an example of how such a list reasons rather than as current-season fact:

  • Demonspawn was placed first despite the author calling its global damage “really meh” and its armour capped at 75% without a movement skill — the placement came from a systems interaction, not raw damage.
  • Samurai was rated really strong post-mana-update: a full-ranged character with melee stats, and the author notes almost nobody plays it.
  • Paladin was grouped as very safe and strong: mid-range, divine shield and holy nova, with no real weakness.
  • Amazon and Marksman were rated as high-DPS ranged characters made safe by a jump with invincibility frames, differing mainly in full-range versus mid-range damage.
  • Pyromancer was described as balanced rather than overpowered — good damage, genuinely fragile.

Notice what that list rewards: survivability and safety frames, not peak damage numbers. The top entry is there because of how it interacts with a system, and the highest-damage classes are described as fragile.

How should you use a top-DPS list?

Treat raw damage as one input. The pattern above suggests two more useful questions:

  1. Can you stay alive at range? Movement skills with invincibility frames appear repeatedly in the reasoning for high placements.
  2. What does the current patch reward? A systems change reordered this list once and will again.

For a current-season view, the Season 10 build tier list is more useful than any class DPS ranking, because it ranks the archetypes people are actually running.

A note on this page’s sources

The rankings above come from a community discussion thread from an earlier patch era, not from Season 10 testing. They are included to show how experienced players reason about damage, not as a current ranking. Nothing here should be treated as this season’s order.

Use the Season 10 tier list for current archetypes and the class roster for damage-type context. The class guides for Demonspawn and Amazon explain two names from the historical ranking, while the physical Samurai build shows how a reviewed current source frames one of the others.

Next step

Read the Season 10 tier list for current archetype placements, and weigh survivability alongside damage — the community reasoning above consistently ranks safe characters above fragile ones with higher numbers.
