Hero Siege weapon categories by class damage type, why spell and melee gear are not interchangeable, and which stats actually scale your damage.

The single most useful thing to know about Hero Siege weapons: your class uses one damage category, and a superb weapon in another category is worth nothing to you.

What weapon types does Hero Siege have?

Weapons map to the damage type a class is built around:

Damage typeClasses that use it
MeleeViking, Nomad, Redneck, Samurai, Paladin, Jötunn, Marauder, Shield Lancer, Demon Slayer
BowsMarksman, Amazon
JavelinsMarksman
GunsPirate
SpellPyromancer, Necromancer, Demonspawn, Shaman, White Mage, Plague Doctor, Illusionist

Two classes break the pattern usefully. Jötunn uses both Spell and Melee weapons, and Stormweaver can use all weapons — which widens what counts as an upgrade for both.

Why can’t you use gear across damage types?

Because the scaling stats differ. For physical attackers, the majority of damage comes from the weapon’s attack damage, which makes enhanced damage a priority on every gear slot. Spell classes do not scale that way.

The practical consequence is inventory discipline: a Satanic melee weapon is not an upgrade for a Pyromancer, and holding it “just in case” costs you space you need for filtering.

What stats should you look for?

For physical builds, enhanced damage across gear slots is the priority, since weapon attack damage is what most of your output multiplies from.

Beyond that, rolls come as ranges with per-level scaling, so read the numbers rather than the rarity:

  • Ranges like Magic Skill Damage increased by [20-50]% mean two identical items can differ by more than double.
  • Entries like 450000 [+50000 per level] Fire Damage grow as you do.

Do weapon sockets matter?

Yes, and they are where the best weapons come from. Runewords require Common white bases with an exact socket count and a matching item type — for example, the “Revelation” runeword requires a Staff, Cane, Spellblade or Book.

If your class uses one of those types, plain white drops of it are worth keeping even when your current weapon is far better.

Use the equipment-weapons comparison to inspect collected source records, the item-rarity guide to judge drops outside your slot, and the runeword guide before discarding Common socketed bases.

Next step

Filter to your class’s damage type and stop picking up the rest — then keep Common bases of your weapon type separately, because those become runewords.
