Hero Siege Magic Find - What It Does and What It Does Not

Magic find increases how many magic-or-better items drop in Hero Siege, not how rare any single drop is. What that distinction means for gearing.

Magic find is the most misunderstood stat in Hero Siege, and the confusion is a single distinction: it changes how many good items drop, not how good any one drop is.

What does magic find actually do?

It increases the chance that a dropped item is superior or better — a magic item rather than a plain one. As one player put it answering exactly this question:

Basically increases the chances you will get a piece of superior+ gear, or in other words a magic item. Though it doesn’t increase the chance of that item being a better drop. However more magic drops = more drops that could be good.

And more bluntly: it is a chance for the amount of loot dropped, and does not increase rarity.

Why does that distinction matter?

Because it changes what magic find is worth to you.

If you are hunting one specific high-rarity item, magic find does not make that item likelier to be the thing that drops. What it does is increase the volume of magic-or-better items you see, so you get more rolls of the dice rather than better dice.

That still helps — more items means more chances at something useful — but it is a throughput improvement, not a jackpot improvement.

Is magic find worth stacking?

It depends entirely on what you are doing:

  • Farming for volume — worth it. More magic items per run compounds.
  • Chasing one specific item — worth less than it feels. You are increasing drops generally, not that drop specifically.
  • Struggling to clear content — worth nothing. Magic find on gear is stats you did not spend on damage or survivability, and a run you cannot finish drops nothing at all.

That last point is the practical trap. Magic find only pays when you can already clear the content quickly.

How does magic find interact with Season 10 drop buffs?

It stacks with the zone buffs rather than replacing them. Season 10 increased all three satanic zone magic find tier buffs by an additional 100%, so the zone contributes on top of what you carry.

Difficulty matters separately: Uber Bosses drop from their table 15% of the time on Hell 1 and 30% on Hell 2. That is a rarity-tier improvement magic find cannot give you — which is why pushing difficulty and stacking magic find are complementary rather than alternatives.

Next step

Stack magic find once you can clear your farming zone comfortably, not before — and push difficulty for better drop tables, since magic find will not do that for you.
