Attribute plan

Main Build

400 INT

Level 100

What feels good

  • High ST Damage
  • "Meat Shields" (Skill as well as literal army of summons)
  • Easy to play
  • AFK Chaos Towers (with you dodging a little bit)
  • Mostly AFK bossing (same as CTs, dodging only)

What to watch

  • Leveling phase is tedious with only summons
  • DMG in midgame is a bit rough without knowing what midgame items we have
  • Endgame items very expensive

For broader mechanics and progression context, read the Necromancer class guide before choosing a source build snapshot.

How should you use this source snapshot?

Treat this as a current-season starting point tied to the source update shown above. Verify balance-sensitive numbers in game after any newer patch, and compare the supplied variants before copying one loadout wholesale.

What does this source build cover?

General Guide on How-To "Zoomancer" (Summoner playstyle) - Should mostly stay correct throughout seasons.

Last update: 2026/08/24 (Changelog at the bottom in the F.A.Q section)

Zoomancer excells at essentially nothing. It's never been the best at anything. Pre Season 9, it used to be really good at everything except mapping, but it wasn't the worst at it. Unfortunately, with S9, it fell off massively.

As of S10, this can change, but it's TBD. I've not seen anyone thoroughly test it, and if someone did, they're gatekeeping the results.

Nevertheless, I wanted to make this guide to give players a general guide to look at, which should mostly stay the same throughout different seasons.

In this guide, I will go over:

  • Leveling from 1 to 100
  • Skill setups at 4 crucial points
  • Gear setup for endgame (As this does not change too often, if anything, we get new items, those are listed under the Gameplay section until the website updates)
  • Loot filters (not actual copy-paste ready ones, but an explanation of how to set it up)

This guide will NOT cover:

  • Earlygame items and loot filters
  • Midgame items and loot filters
  • Incarnation tree setups

Why? Because this guide is meant to be a general guide for Zoomancer. I want this guide to be usable for more than one season. Usually, skills and endgame items stay mostly the same, if not, I will update those of course, but generally speaking, very little changes for those. Now earlygame, midgame, incarnation tree and the loot filters all change from season to season. For this, I have my spreadsheets and google docs where you can go to. Links are in the official #necromancer-discussion chat, usually pinned.

How is this build divided into variants?

Variant Level Attributes Linked items
Main Build Active source variant 100 400 INT 30

Which skill priorities does the source give?

To make your life easier, once you're level 40+, just follow the level 100 skill setup and check where you need to change nodes to get there.

Notes regarding Level 100 - Endgame:

  • As you can see, it changes from the bottom right node to the top left node. Reason being is, if you don't have enough damage to oneshot enemies with the top left node, you will have lags. Because oneshotting an enemy apparently does not need calculation from the game engine (or whatever the reason is). Bottom right does not chain, meaning it doesn't do as much damage, but it also therefore doesn't lag.

NOTE: THE SUBSKILL DESCRIPTIONS ARE SOMETIMES WRONG HERE, THE PATH IS CORRECT HOWEVER, JUST FOLLOW IT INGAME

How does the source recommend playing it?

Regarding Items

  • Helmet is the new "Parasite Queen's Tiara"
  • Belt you can go for Patron's or Liquor Holster, the latter being probably worse, but we'll see, this is in combination with the new charm Ghastly Skull, so chances are, it's better. To be tested
  • Amulet TBD
  • Ring 1: St. Aaron's Eternal Rage
  • Ring 2: Skeleton Crew's Band THIS IS CURRENTLY BUGGED AND DOES NOT SUMMON ANYTHING, I RECOMMMEND GETTING RAKHUL'S RITUAL BAND INSTEAD

Regarding Socketables

  • IMPORTANT: IF you find good jewels, of course use those over Chaos Gems (1 Angelic Gem should always be inserted though, as all skills are arguably the biggest DPS increase.

What are good jewels?

  • Summon DMG%
  • Summon Attack Speed
  • +Skills (if applicable)
  • -Enemy Arcane Resistance
  • Magic Skill DMG%
  • Arcane Skill DMG% and Arcane Additive Skill DMG

Regarding Relics

  • Swap out Amputation Kit for alternatives if you don't mind the teleport nerfs.

Alternatives are: Orb of Chaos (Damage), Magic Mushroom (Allround), Triforce (Allround), Cheeseburger (Defensive)

Regarding Charms

  • Swap Adventurer's Quiver (Placeholder) for the new Ghastly Skull
  • Swap Witches Claw for Parasitic Heart
  • Swap Tablet of Awakening for Overloaded Dice IF this overloaded dice is on either of those two skills:

Skeleton Mages (Priority) or Vengeful Spirit (Secondary backup). Any other skill is not worth it.

Regarding Potions Swap out Elixir of Death for Elixir of Unworldy Cognition if you want maximum XP grind. Swap out Elixir of Death for Prismatic Potion if you use the "Vanguard of Arcane" node in the Incarnation Tree (as well as to make you tankier) *Note: Specifically Empty Bottle off Vodka, Elixir of Unworldy Cognition and Prismatic Potion are most effective with Liquor Holster.*

Incarnation Tree, Mercenary and other things I may have forgotten will be added at a later date.

Most if not all of this will be added once the website updates to S10 stuff.

Which equipment does each variant use?

What does the source FAQ clarify?

Q: Is summoner viable in S10 A: So Far, it's not looking terrible. Many classes are struggling from Nightmare to Hell and then Hell to Inferno, but those are expected breakpoints. It's too early to say, if we're going to be stuck in Hell for long.

Q: I have questions, what do I do? A: Go to the #necromancer-discussion channel on the official Hero Siege Discord and ask away. You do not have to ping me, other people are perfectly capable of answering most questions. If you have questions about my guide or improvements, findings after testing (please provide proof if you do test something), feel free to ping me.

Q: Can I use this guide in S11, 12, 13, etc.? A: Potentially. I don't plan on leaving the game for good, so I will update this periodically. Treat this as a "all-in-one" guide for now and the future. The timestamp will always be at the top in the description, meaning you know when the last edit happened.

Q: Changelog S10 A: 2026/08/25

  • Skeleton Crew's Band does not work, items updated

2026/08/24

  • Added further notes to Potions

2026/08/23

  • Changed Skeleton Mages Subtree (Should now both be good on performance and damage, although losing Illusions is a massive damage loss, it should still be fine in endgame)
  • Added Potions
  • Added 2 Loot Filters for S10
  • Swapped El Patrón's Madness with Liquor Holster (Reason being, the new Ghastly Skull charm + Caffeinated Coffee Container permanently on is a massive DMG increase, same with permanent Vodka)
