How should you use this source snapshot?
Treat this as a current-season starting point tied to the source update shown above. Verify balance-sensitive numbers in game after any newer patch, and compare the supplied variants before copying one loadout wholesale.
What does this source build cover?
Do you like surviving when all your party members have fallen? Shield Lancer is for you!
This is an early endgame Shield Lancer guide to get some useful tips out into the open for new players or old players that never touched lancer before this league.
First, Lancer has, as far as I know, the only spell cast in the game with weapon damage added into it's hit damage. This means we can leech with Shield Wall. This means we can become even more immortal than base Shield Lancer. On top of that interesting tech, every time your shields fall from Honed Defenses it counts as another cast, so things like the Holy Grail relic can proc off that.
You will probably go for a minion playstyle when doing early bossing because it's just better than the falling shields in that case. You can keep with the falling shields, but it's going to be slower.
How is this build divided into variants?
| Variant | Level | Attributes | Linked items |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Build Active source variant | 100 | 400 ARM | 16 |
Which skill priorities does the source give?
Your entire gameplay loop is Shield Wall That's it. Don't press Honed Defenses as it will go off on its own.
Last Stand is for the incredibly rare emergencies when something makes it past all your shields. You can use Charge across bosses to armor break them and increase the speed in which they die.
The only change between the Clear skill set and the Bossing skill set is the subskills inside of Honed Defenses
How does the source recommend playing it?
Trust in your shields. Don't give in to the temptation to run away, staying on the target is how we keep our life leech up.
Baby Log Necklace is your BiS neck. Get a few, work on starring them up to 5* and corrupt them for useful affixes.

What does the source FAQ clarify?
Q: Why are we using Charmed Blood? A: The on-hit part for Shield Wall counts as weapon hit and is capable of leeching both life and mana.
Q: How do I easily swap for the minion setup? A: You don't really, at least not for the gear. You can hotkey the different skill sets to quickly swap it. For the gear, you have to do it by hand. For most bosses you can avoid changing gear as your power will be enough.
Q: How are you using a wand in the end game gear set? A: The Absence of Constraint allows you to use any weapon type. You can forgo it and stick with weapons Lancer already can use if you want.
