How should you use this source snapshot?
This is clearly labeled historical-season material. Use it to understand the documented route, mechanics and equipment relationships, then verify every balance-sensitive number and recommendation against the current game before investing resources.
What does this source build cover?
A standard Poison Plague Doctor build that uses Crematus for clearing and Plague of Rats for single-target damage.
Works well as a league starter, and is also strong enough to clear all Inferno content without major issues on a reasonable budget.
How is this build divided into variants?
| Variant | Level | Attributes | Linked items |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Build Active source variant | 100 | 400 INT | 31 |
Which skill priorities does the source give?
[20] Crematus: main AoE (bug: AoE and duration decrease while moving; the faster you move, the greater the decrease) [20] Plague of Rats: main single-target damage (can drop FPS) [20] Exploding Mice: multiplicative damage from Plague of Rats [16-20] Chant of Weakness: additive, scales with Extra Poison Damage to Poisoned / Extra Damage to Poisoned [16-20] Crow Mask’s Presence: +Life/Resistances (you can reallocate points from Chant of Weakness) [1] Toxic Flask: HP/Damage Reduction/Damage buff [1] Jar of Leeches: +60% selfheal [1] Randy the Rancid Rat: +105% movement speed buff [1] Lifeblood Aura: +life aura
How does the source recommend playing it?
At the start, you can invest some points into Energy or Vitality if you feel you don’t have enough mana or HP. However, keep in mind that Intelligence gives a significant damage boost. On bosses, you should:
- Throw a Toxic Flask to gain a damage buff and restore HP.
- Keep Crematus active at all times for poison DoT and poison break.
- Use Plague of Rats in the center of the boss to deal maximum damage.
- Don’t forget to use Randy to move faster (you can jump through walls).
- If your HP drops, use Jars — it will restore up to +60% HP if your leech hits the target.
_ The best place to test single-target damage is Astral Encampment 7-0. (In other locations, some of your rats may hit walls, causing you to lose damage.) _ Check the pinned messages in the Discord channel #plague-doctor-discussion or ping me @vokirazh

What does the source FAQ clarify?
Q: Why aren’t Ahto’s BiS? A: They’re bugged — Extra Damage isn’t being calculated.
Q: Lucifer? A: Theoretical. Works with Tomi, Annihilator, and max resistance runes.
Q: Raider’s Torch, Sobek? A: +Light Radius. Light Radius increases your base movement speed (base MS × %MS = actual MS).
Q: SteamPowered Flamewalkers? A: +Crit chance/damage for Ahto’s, plus phasing, Light Radius, and attributes (really strong boots).
Q: Why is Death Over Time needed in the Incarnation tree? A: Some enemies in the game are immune to DoT effects. This node allows us to apply them anyway, so we can benefit from the Extra Damage bonus, which the build has a lot of.
Q: Why Flipflop? A: They grant Phasing (incredibly useful for farming), as well as Skill Diminish and Jump Power. Altogether, these stats add a lot of comfort and open up new possibilities that weren’t available before. You can now use Randy to jump over things that previously seemed impossible.
